Time Flies!!!

I can’t believe it has been a year and a half since my last blog entry!!! In that time, I’ve moved twice, my eldest has started school (now in year 1) and my youngest is walking/running and talking! I think I keep expecting (or hoping) that life will settle down just enough for me to do my own thing now and then. I’m starting to recognise and acknowledge how delusional that is!!! I have two kids, a husband, church and work and I live in 2012, life is not going to settle down! And even when there are moments of being less busy, generally I’ll be too exhausted to do anything creative!

Okay, enough talk! I do actually have something to show you!!!

I made this chest of drawers for a dear friend (my upline Kirrily) and filled it with choccies and Stampin’ Up! goodies! It is actually a Christmas present, although we still haven’t exchanged gifts yet!!!!!! Hopefully, she won’t check my blog!

I found a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers for a single drawer, so I made that four times and stuck them together with sticky strip. I covered the joins and the drawer fronts, as well as the top with some Paisley Petals dsp (pg 128 of IBC). I then made two more drawers (in mini size) for the top and two ovals for the mirror. I used antique brads (pg 142 of IBC) for the drawer handles. I was really happy with how it turned out!

Another dear friend, Meighan, has inspired me to try some challenges to help get the creative juices flowing, so hopefully I’ll be back soon with another creation!

I hope you all have a lovely Easter!

Calm the Crying

I made this book for a friend's baby shower. Inside is Pinky McKay's 100 ways to calm the crying baby. I used Outline Alphabet and designer series paper to make the title and Circle Circus to decorate the inside. My friend was having her shower in Sydney but lives in Queensland and said not to bring presents, so this was a good way to still give her a present. Plus, she had something to read on the plane!

Arty Gifts

Can you believe it's half way through June already! Where does the time go!?

A couple of my daughter's friends were baptised last month and these are the gifts I made for them. I thought it would be nice to have a keepsake and so the idea for these was born. I hope they like them!

I stamped the letters from the Jumbo Outline Alphabet straight onto designer series paper and then cut them out. I printed the bible verses onto Whisper White cardstock and popped up with dimensionals. I added ribbon and coloured cardstock to match the papers and then bought frames (and the lovely man at the shop put them in for me).

Stationary Box and First Blog Candy!

I made this stationary box for our new minister and his wife as part of their welcome hamper. I hope they liked it! I've used the Ginger Blossom DSP from the Summer Mini and coordinating cardstock. The River Rock cardstock is textured, which I think really adds something. I did try to add DSP inside the pen but it just didn't want to play nicely and I had a deadline, so imagine it with the extra DSP.

Here's a small selection of the standard sized cards I made;

And here's some of the love notes;

And finally, here's the tags;

I've used the Embrace Life stamp set (Summer Mini) which coordinates with the DSP. I used So Many Sayings (Hostess set) and Short and Sweet for the sentiments (two absolute must have sets!), I've also used the Live Your Dream stamp set (Summer Mini). I will send a little something to the person that can tell me where I've used the Live Your Dream stamp set! My first blog candy! Good luck!

My Album

Images © 1990-2008 Stampin' Up!®

I made this album at a team meeting last month from scratch! I'm really quite impressed with myself! I've used Outlaw Designer Series paper to cover it and the Natural Beauty stamp set to embellish it. I stamped the images in Stazon ink onto vellum and them coloured the back side with Watercolour crayons in the colours to match the DSP. The ribbon is Chocolate Chip taffeta and I've used some Hodgepodge Hardware too!

These albums would make great Christmas or birthday gifts for family or friends (or even just for you)!

If you would like to make your own album, please email me and we'll arrange a time for me to come round and teach you (and some friends if you like)!

A Little Gift

Images © 1990-2008 Stampin' Up!®

Can you believe it is already the 25th June!!!??? Only 6 months to Christmas! Anyway . . . my little gift. I had the idea to make these cards for a friend that was having (actually just had) a baby, she really likes handmade cards, so I thought it would be nice to give her a set of cards to use as thank you's after the baby was born. I didn't know at the time whether she was having a boy or a girl so I tried to go with a neutral colour scheme. I started with the colour "Taken with Teal" because I love it and wanted an excuse to use it! The other colours I've used are Sage Shadow and Close to Cocoa. I think I'm happy with the final results, what do you think???

I've been meaning to make some cards like this with a matching gift bag/box for ages and this one I copied from the lovely Marelle. Infact, the cards were published in the Stamping and Papercraft Magazine (no wonder she has the papparazzi after her)!

The stamp sets I've used are All in the Family, Polka Dots and Petals and So Many Sayings. Here are some close ups too!
